We bought ferry tickets that introduces all the islands surrounding Matsushima and the announces also introduce the history of each island in Japanese and English.
This is the map that shows you the path where the ferry will be sailing around.
The ferry is really big and you can choose to sit inside, with the breezing wind or inside.
Inside the ferry, there are also tuck shops where you can buy ice-cream, snacks and drinks!
The views are really nice there cos it's like you have left the city and you have arrived at this island with fresher air and tress surrounding you!
Along the main streets there are many souvenirs shops, but because we are too hungry by the time we arrived, we headed straight to the fish market!
It is not hard to find the Fish Market because there are signs along the main street to tell you how to go there!
You will walk pass a history museum as you are heading towards the fish market.
Finally, reached there!
Outside the fish market, there are grilled seafood to eat.
There is this "all you can eat" plan for 45 mins, which costed only 2000 yen. But this is only for eating Oysters.
Fresh grilled oysters are very delicious!! It's completely different from those you can in cities shop because there is not even a single tiny bit of fishy taste to it!
If you can't eat that much, then you can just order 3 oysters for 500 yen. Except for oysters, there are also scallops which was 350 yen each? (MY FAVORITE) !!!!! ^^
As it was too good, I ordered the same thing twice! (greedy me XDD)
After you ordered them, you can head inside the fish market and order sashimi, sushi, sashimi don (raw fish with rice) and then head to the 2nd floor and take a seat!
On the 2nd floor, there is a ramen shop too.
The grilled seafood you ordered outside will be served to you on the 2nd floor area, so you just have to wait there! (of course, they will ask you where you will be sitting).
But for the food ordered inside, you will have to take it yourself.
The food are mainly sold on the 1st floor.
Being in sendai, of course, ox tongues are sold there toO!
This fish market is also like a supermarket where you can buy Matsushima souvenirs! (including seafood and other snacks)
And I ordered this additional size grilled eel which only costed 870yen!! very good value!
The grilled eel was not fishy at all and it's very collagen-like (if you know what I mean?) when you are eating it. It's one of the best grilled eels I have eaten so far in my life! (better than any HK restaurants I have been to at least).
The 2nd Floor |
There are water/tea machine which you can drink for free on the 2nd floor, which is very considerate of them!
After eating, I have walked around the whole fish market and found something very weird being sold there!!
If you take a closer look, they have all these weird ice-cream flavour!!! e.g. Beer, Shark Fin, Zunda (smashed green peas - the famous Sendai food), walnuts, different fish flavoured ones, ramen, yakisoba (fried noodles) etc!!!
I swear I wanted to try all of them but because of the wasabi chocolate incident which I ate when I got my Mount Fuji para-glide (plz see my blog entry), I stepped back from being so brave.... Plus, I was too full...
over-eating...
This fish market's opening hour is: 0800 -1700 (so it doesn't shut early if you compare it to other fish markets!)
The next blog will be about the food and the places I went while I was in Matsu Island, so please stayed tuned XD
